In the secretarial division, we perform all the work. If it’s typable/word processable, we do it: business reports, correspondence, legal documents/pleadings/briefs, Excel database, editing and composition, school assignments (to include term papers, dissertations and theses), résumés, transcription from cassettes (both micro and standard), newsletters, manuscripts, and general word processing. Most of our work is done in-house, but we will schedule the occasional on-site requests when needed. If you need to dictate work in person, you can come to our office and dictate while Ms. Bates types. We also have clients who dictate over the phone. If you need help in composing your work, Ms. Bates has excellent editing skills, and she has edited a number of books for clients. We do E-mail communications and research as well.
Using a secretarial/word processing service is not only practical for times of office overload, but we can save you money by billing just for work performed. You do not have to pay us for vacation, insurance, down time, Workers Comp, sick leave, or employment taxes, IRS withholding and Social Security, whereas these items would have to be provided to a live employee in your office.
Mary Kaye Bates, owner/operator and typist, has a superior grasp of English grammar and types between 80-100 words per minute (under ideal conditions; hard-to-read copy can slow us down somewhat). When she lived in Key West, she typed all of Tennessee Williams’ manuscripts in addition to his personal correspondence. When she was in the ninth grade, her spelling ability led to her winning the Maryland State Spelling Bee and placing eighth in the National Spelling Bee. (Of course, she is not above consulting a dictionary when in doubt.)
In the notary public division, in addition to standard notarizations, Ms. Bates will go on site if travel to our office is impractical. She has done many bedside notarizations in hospitals, hospices, and nursing homes. She will come to your home or office if you are unable to travel.
Also, in the state of Florida, notaries can officiate at weddings, and Ms. Bates is able travel to any location. Rates are determined by time and distance, and she will tailor your vows to your needs and specifications. Ms. Bates has performed myriad ceremonies in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, ranging from formal to very casual. She has done weddings on boats, horseback, parks and beaches; at country clubs and homes. She used to live in Key West, Florida, and held ceremonies at Sunset Celebration, on the bows of racing boats, and has officiated at biker weddings. She also performs GLBT wedding ceremonies as well.
